Training you and your grouse dog

"Bringing together habitat cover interpretation and working your dog as a team on a grouse hunt"

Conducted at our Dog Training Camp most days of the week between August and mid-September, we offer, on a limited basis, "one-on-two" training sessions for both the started pup or a started dog and their owner.  Sessions run upto three hours, dependent on the age and previous experience of your dog,  and address all issues from starting with a new pup to addressing specific issues you may have with your dog that you have hunted with for a season or more.  We also address cover changes and different situations that you will encounter in the grouse woods that will help you anticipate possible grouse encounters and how to handle your dog appropriately.  We work on helping you understand how your dog scents and how to read your dog during various situations.   A grouse hunter needs to be able to access the situatuoin by looking at the cover and at the way the dog is pointing  in order to set up the release, flush and shot.

If you have certain issues that you would like us to work on with you and your dog, we can help.  Our goal is for you  and your dog to get the most that you can out of your hunt.

Our training facility is located in the grouse woods and allows us to train and work dogs in the environment in which they wil hunt grouse.   In addition, we have a 35' x 60' flight pen in which we can work on steadying your dog on whoa around birds that are either flying or running in front of him or her.  We can use liberated birds, launchers, etc. as needed,  all of which are set in the grouse woods.

We charge $75/hour plus a minimal charge per liberated bird if used during the session.  This unique training is conducted in the grouse woods within our Camp and may run for one or more sessions based on your budget and personal goals for your dog and yourself.  If liberated birds are shot over your dog, you do the shooting.

If you would like more information about our one on two sessions or to make a reservation, please give us a call.
